The first official statement about a new Kentucky District Highway office in Manchester was announced Monday morning by Senate President Robert Stivers.
During the planned announcement about downtown revitalization, the senator thanked District Highway Engineer Chris Jones for the fill dirt being used for the project.
“This has been a collaborative effort of many entities,” Stivers said. “We want to thank Chief District Engineer Chris Jones for working with us on having excess material from the new district 11 office being placed on Bridge Street.”
Construction on Ky. 80 is now underway as crews have been expanding the entrance to what will be the new home of the KYTC District 11 Highway office, across from Huddle House. Rumors had swirled the location would be the site of the new office, but officials within the Transportation Cabinet declined to confirm.
Senator Stivers also worked to secure the funding for the new office and to ensure the office’s 115 jobs would remain in Clay County.
