Judge Harmon and Mayor Collins Sign Joint Proclamation for Recognizing Veterans

On Monday, October 30th, 2023, Clay County Judge Executive, Tommy Harmon, and Mayor of Manchester, Steve Collins, signed a joint proclamation in observance of veterans and military servants.

PJ Reid, a WWII Veteran that served in Pacific Theater, will turn 101 on November 2, 2023.

Judge Harmon and Mayor Collins welcomed some of the veterans as they announced a joint proclamation. Those is attendance were: Dewey Wayne Collins, Hobert Hensley, Landis Cornett, Chuck Miller, Ray Gilbert, Winford Sizemore, Jeffrey Gorski, Penny Robinson, Dewey Combs, Paul Baker, and Jimmie Sizemore. PJ Reid, a WWII Veteran that served in Pacific Theater and will turn 101 on November 2, 2023, was unable to attend (pictured).

Judge Harmon shared, ” On behalf of the Clay County Fiscal Court and myself, I would like to express our genuine gratitude to all veterans and their families for their dedicated service and sacrifice they gave to this great nation. Clay County was represented by some of the finest citizens this county has ever known, some were fortunate to come home and build their lives and have families, others gave all in battle as they fought for our freedom that we enjoy today.” “As many of you know, Veterans Day is very dear and personal for me, being a part of the military and serving our country was a huge part of my father’s life. It is an honor to stand here today alongside Mayor Collins and thank you for all you have done and will do to serve our county, state, and country. May God Bless each of you and your families.”

Mayor Collins shared, “It is such a great day to show respect and honor to the veterans of Clay County for their service and sacrifices they made for each of us. Veterans should be remembered each and every day for their service to our county, state and nation. I am delighted to sign this proclamation alongside Judge Harmon to begin the honoring of our veterans and their families.”
